50,000 jobs for a better future

Vidéo publié par : ACTED

Over 73 million youth across the world are currently unemployed, which places them in a position of socioeconomic marginalization. In regions affected by war and disasters like the Middle East (four L3 emergencies) and Central Asia (sharing environmental challenges), this marginalization can have dramatic consequences for youth, communities, and societies as a whole (instability, radicalization, criminalization, migration). ACTED, a leading European NGO, proposes to build on its expertise enhancing economic opportunities through market-based interventions to provide 50,000 at-risk youth with jobs across 13 countries in the 2 regions. We know, from our experience and research, that small and medium enterprises (SMEs) can drive growth and labor demand in complex crisis contexts. Our solution is to rely on the growth of SMEs through business development services and grants conditional on the recruitment of marginalized and unemployed youth, coupled with job placement and training services to ensure youth have the required skills.
