Yoga can help 350 million people stop their antidepressants

Kriya Yoga has been used as a low-risk, low-cost adjunct treatment for treating stress, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, many stress-related illnesses, Drug abuse and reintegration of offenders. A published study recently concluded that it is undoubtedly effective in treating depression.

This latest study, published in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry of researchers at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, reaffirms the scientific basis for complete yogic breathing to combat depression.
 
The study was performed on 25 patients with CT who were depressed, despite the eight weeks of taking antidepressants. Patients in the yoga group had significantly reduced their average Beck depression scores (with an improvement of 15.48 points) and the Beck depression inventory (an improvement of 5.19 points) compared to the control group of the waiting list.
