Trek Nepal, International Childcare Trust's exciting challenge took participants on a demanding route in the Annapurna region of the Himalayas. Over a ten day trip, 5 days were devoted to trekking through remote villages, stunning scenery, irresistible hot springs and some of the most awe-inspiring views of the Annapurna massif. On the last leg of the trip, participants visited International Childcare Trust's partner in Nepal, Rural Environment & Empowerment Centre (REEC), and saw the day centre which offers an education and vocational training to children who from a young age are exposed to working as porters or domestic workers. Thirteen years ago, residents of the community began a process of peaceful civilian resistance in the midst of conflict. Since then, more than 180 members of the Peace Community have been assassinated.
