Description
Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international medical humanitarian organization created by doctors and journalists in France in 1971.
Today, MSF provides independent, impartial assistance in more than 60 countries to people whose survival is threatened by violence, neglect, or catastrophe, primarily due to armed conflict, epidemics, malnutrition, exclusion from health care, or natural disasters. MSF provides independent, impartial assistance to those most in need. MSF also reserves the right to speak out to bring attention to neglected crises, challenge inadequacies or abuse of the aid system, and to advocate for improved medical treatments and protocols.
In 1999, MSF received the Nobel Peace Prize.

Drug companies are awarded patents on a new drug for 20 years. After 20 years they have to allow for the generic manufacture of these drugs. Evergreening is when a company makes minor change to the drug to receive another 20-year patent. This leaves people in developing countries forever unable to get the medicines they need. India has a law that stops evergreening. Novartis has been fighting this law for 6 years. If they win, people all over the world will lose - they will lose a lot more than just a court case. The Starved for Attention exhibit tours the east coast, recreating a Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) field hospital specializing in the treatment of malnourished children, just like those used in the field. MSF medical staff and aid workers—who have worked in malnutrition projects in the field--will guide visitors through a simulated clinic and describe how MSF works to treat and prevent malnutrition

All children have the same nutritional needs to grow and thrive. It shouldn't take a war or famine to occur before vulnerable children in Somalia and northeastern Kenya to have access to a healthy diet.
